Google Pixel 11 Rumor Roundup: New Colors, Higher Prices and Lots of Leaks

4 hours ago 2

It's time once again for Google to reveal its next wave of Pixel phones. The company has sent out invitations for a Made by Google event that will take place on Aug. 12 in New York at 6 p.m. ET, where it will likely unveil a new Pixel 11 series along with a potential Pixel Watch 5.

Since the event is nearly upon us, there is a plethora of rumors, speculation and leaks about what Google plans to announce. At the very least, we're expecting updates to the entire Pixel lineup -- we'll probably see the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and a Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

Google is also expected to announce Android features that are unique to the Pixel 11, at least initially, to help it stand apart from the competition. The Pixel 11 lineup is shaping up to be a showcase for Google's AI initiatives, for example, so we expect that to be a big focus at the event.

Here's everything we know about the Pixel 11 series so far.

Release Date and pricing

Since the Google event will take place on Aug. 12, the Pixel 11 series will likely be available a few weeks after that. Last year, the Pixel 10 lineup dropped in late August, while the Pro Fold arrived in October. The same could repeat this year.

It appears that the Pixel 11's prices will be higher across the board, but for different reasons. Android Authority has apparently leaked some deleted Amazon listings that confirm an earlier rumor from Deallabs that Google will drop the 128GB storage model from the Pixel 11 lineup. That, of course, raises the starting price to that of the 256GB model across the series.

The deleted Amazon listings show that the Pixel 11's price starts at $899, which is the same as the comparable 256GB Pixel 10. The Pixel 11 Pro's price appears to start at $1,099, which is the same as the comparable 256GB Pixel 11 Pro. Interestingly, the 256GB Pixel 11 Pro comes with 12GB of RAM while higher configurations come with 16GB of RAM.

But premium Pixel models, such as the Pixel 11 Pro XL and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, will have a price hike beyond that, likely due to the current memory shortage crisis. The aforementioned deleted Amazon listings, which Droid Life also managed to capture, show that the Pixel 11 Pro XL and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold will start at $1,299 and $1,899 respectively. That's $100 more than their Pixel 10 predecessors.

Like with the 11 Pro, the 256GB Pixel 11 Pro XL appears to ship with 12GB of RAM while higher configurations come with 16GB of RAM.

This is in line with earlier speculation that the Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold will be 100 euros more expensive than their Pixel 10 counterparts.

Design differences

So far, leaks have shown the Pixel 11 phones to be practically identical to their predecessors. That means a 6.3-inch display on the Pixel 11 and Pixel 11 Pro, a 6.8-inch display with the Pro XL and a 6.4-inch outer display on the Pro Fold (though the leaked Amazon listing seems to show a 6.5-inch outer display instead). Android Headlines did find leaked CAD images that appear to point to the Pixel 11 having thinner bezels and an all-black camera bar, but overall the changes seem very minor.

The biggest change seems to be something called the "Pixel Glow," which appears to be an LED array outlining the Pixel's cameras. According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Glow will use "subtle light and color on the back of your device to inform you of important activity when it's face down." It sounds like a fancy notification LED that'll show you the type of notification you receive while the phone is face down.

Apparently this feature has already been teased at I/O (via Android Central) though it could also be simply an AI-generated image meant to show off Gemini Omni's capabilities. There are also supposedly some Pixel 11 cases with a wider camera cutout in order to accommodate the new LED array, which add credence to the Pixel Glow rumor.

According to some leaks, the Pixel 11 will ship in these colors: Light sterling (gray), midnight haze (black), fuschia (pink) and moss (green). The other models will apparently be available in midnight haze, light fog (white), dune (pink) and pine (green) depending on storage capacity.

The aforementioned leaked Amazon listing, however, shows that the Pixel 11 will be available in frost, pistachio, hibiscus and obsidian. It also shows the 11 Pro and Pro XL in canyon and obsidian, and the 11 Pro Fold in olive and obsidian.

Rumored specs, battery and performance

According to insider Mystic Leaks (via Android Authority), the Pixel 11 is rumored to have a 50-megapixel sensor, which is an upgrade over the Pixel 10's 48-megapixel sensor. Though this might seem like just a 2-megapixel difference, this brings the base Pixel much more in line with the Pro-level Pixels, providing higher resolution and greater zoom versatility. All the Pixel 11 phones appear to have 13-megapixel front-facing cameras

Interestingly, Mystic Leaks also says that the base Pixel 11 could only have 8GB of RAM rather than 12GB. They say that there might be a version that has 12GB of RAM, but it could be more expensive. This is very different from the leaked Amazon listings that show the Pixel 11 with 12GB of RAM across the board.

The leaked Amazon listings appear to show that the Pixel 11 will be available in 256GB and 512GB configurations while the Pixel 11 Pro, Pro XL and Pro Fold will be available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB configurations. As mentioned earlier, there also seems to be a RAM split with the Pro and Pro XL, with the 256GB versions of those shipping with 12GB of RAM while the higher storage variants would ship with 16GB of RAM. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold seemingly has 16GB of RAM across its configurations.

The new Pixel 11 phones are expected to ship with a 2nm upgrade for Google's Tensor G6 chipset, which theoretically points to better power efficiency. Google is also apparently switching on Samsung Exynos modems to MediaTek M90 modems, as shown in this FCC filing for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

The aforementioned leaked Amazon listing shows the battery capacities for the Pixel 11 lineup as follows: The Pixel 11 will apparently have a 4,985-mAh battery, the Pixel 11 Pro is shown with a 4,850-mAh battery, the Pixel 11 Pro XL with a 5,115-mAh battery and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold seems to have a 4,750-mAh battery.

We'll continue to update this roundup as we hear more about the Pixel 11 series, leading up to the Made by Google event on Aug. 12.
