Outer Worlds 2 has turned out to be a fantastic iteration of the first game. It's funny, well written, takes you through a gripping story and is widely shaping up to be one of the best role-playing games of the year. To make sure your character is well-equipped and ready for the adventure, here's a list of advice you'll want to keep handy.

Third-person camera
The game defaults to a first-person camera, but you have more options. There are two additional third-person choices: near and far. Either of them will move the camera over the character's shoulder and sit at different distances. I personally enjoyed the third-person near option the most and found it helpful during the various platforming obstacles in the game.
Explore thoroughly
Outer Worlds 2 is an RPG about choices. Finding the right bit of information or quest-related object can be useful when conversing with important NPCs. Oftentimes you can bypass having to fight or pay your way through an obstacle simply because you read the right email hidden on some computer in a backroom. Make sure to explore your surroundings as much as possible before moving forward; it might make your progress a whole lot easier.
Traits
If finding the right info isn't working for you, you can always try your skill points. Leveling up your skills is essential in The Outer Worlds 2. It not only lets you specialize your character but also opens up new opportunities in both exploration and dialogue. Instead of having to find the manual in order to bypass a malfunctioning transformer, you can simply hack it -- if your hacking skill is high enough. In fact, many boss fights can even be skipped if your speech skill is high enough and you say the right thing.
One respec
Where you put skill points is very important, so keep in mind that there is only one opportunity to respec in the game -- and that's right after the tutorial mission. After you see the game's title card and you wake up after the initial mission, you'll be asked if you want to respec. The tutorial mission serves as a good way for you to test out your character; it's your one chance to make adjustments.
Visit companions
One of the best aspects in the Outer Worlds franchise is the dynamic and interesting companion characters that accompany you throughout the game. Each time a new one joins you, make sure to visit their room on your ship to chat and get more back story about them; that knowledge will serve you well down the line.
Ready to talk
While you're out on a mission, your companions will sporadically have speech bubbles appear above their heads. This means they want to discuss something. Make sure to slow down and chat, otherwise you'll miss out on some good character moments.
Main menu jokes
Many game consoles offer a way to quickly resume a game, saving you from having to relaunch it every time you want to play since it's being suspended right where you left off. The downside to this with Outer Worlds 2 is that it means you won't see the main menu very often. Try to check back to it from time to time since the game has a number of silly jokes that Moon Man will tell based on your campaign. These can range from comments on your current helmet to which difficulty you selected to play on.
Lootable corpses
Outer Worlds 2 includes a lot of combat, which means you'll be killing a lot of people, animals, robots, etc. And you'll find a lot of things to loot on those corpses. But not every dead body will have something worthwhile. Even though the game highlights them in blue if they can be interacted with, it can be a pain to run all over the place to check. Instead, look at your mini map: If a corpse is lootable, there'll be a chest icon on the map where the body is. Now, you can simply collect from the ones you know have something to offer.
Double jump
The double jump is the best ability in a video game. Lucky for us, you can get this perk pretty early on if you know where to look. When you arrive to the first town, Fairfield, a man named Huell Chaudry will shout out for you. He's located next to the bounty machine. He'll give you a side quest titled the Perilous Journey to the Grave; here is where you'll acquire that ability to double jump. Make sure you have at least three skill points in engineering though, since you can't access the mission without repairing an elevator.
There are your nine tips to starting Outer Worlds 2 off in the best possible way. The game launches on Oct 29 for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC.
