Award-winning anthology series Star Wars: Visions returns to Disney Plus this week for a new season offering nine fresh, self-contained takes on a galaxy far, far away filtered through the lens of anime.

While Volume 2 expanded the series globally with studios like the UK's Aardman and Ireland's Cartoon Saloon, Volume 3 sees Star Wars: Visions return to its source, featuring the handiwork of Japanese studios, such as Ghost in the Shell makers Production IG and Attack on Titan's Wit Studio.

Arguably, the most anticipated episode from this new collection is "The Duel: Payback" from Kamikaze Douga and Anima, which serves as a sequel to the original, Emmy-nominated fan-favorite short "The Duel," from Volume 1. It follows the mysterious Ronin as he faces a vengeful Jedi named the Grand Master, with the episode blending George Lucas' sci-fi with stylized samurai-style action inspired by Akira Kurosawa

There's also an impressive lineup of voice talent for Volume 3 with Wednesday's Emma Myers, Reservoir Dogs' Steve Buscemi and Star Trek-legend George Takei among those featuring on the English-language cast.

'Star Wars: Visions' Volume 3 release date on Disney Plus

The latest installment of this animated series is scheduled to land on Disney Plus at 12 a.m. PT (3 a.m. ET) on Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Disney Plus has seen a recent price bump, with the ad-supported version now costing $12 per month, up from $10. The ad-free version costs $19 per month or $190 per year, a jump from its previous price of $16 per month or $160 per year.
