A24 has emerged as one of the most original production companies in recent years. And while the films it produces span every genre -- from horror to documentary to comedy and beyond -- the entertainment house has become synonymous with a certain aesthetic.
The company has attracted singular filmmakers like Sofia Coppola, Ari Aster, Yorgos Lanthimos and Barry Jenkins, who have helped define the company's creative ethos to the point that it's often easy to recognize a film as being an A24 production. And its films are not just underground hits, either. Many of them, like Room, Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All at Once, have also won Oscars.
While HBO Max is the premier destination to stream the most A24 films, you can find some of its best movies across several free streaming services like Kanopy, Tubi and Plex. Two of the three films in Ti West and Mia Goth's X trilogy, X and Pearl, are streaming now, and you can also catch Ari Aster's Hereditary, the quirky dramedy Problemista, and many more.

Here are some of our favorite A24 hits that you can now watch without spending a dime.
The 2022 film X is the first film in writer-director Ti West's X horror trilogy. Mia Goth stars as an aspiring adult film star, Maxine, who is making her first film in a rented house in a rural Texas town. Goth also plays the house's owner, an old woman named Pearl who develops a violent fixation on the group and goes on a rampage, intent on killing off everyone in the young, virile crew. Goth and West subsequently paired up for two more films, Pearl and MaXXXine, based around the same characters. Both X and Pearl are available to stream on Kanopy, Tubi and Plex. (MaXXXine is available on HBO Max.)
In Problemista, Julio Torres stars as an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador who now lives in New York and has big dreams of being a toy designer. When he can't find a job in his chosen field, he secures work as an assistant to an erratic and eccentric art critic, played by Tilda Swinton. Torres also wrote and directed the film which co-stars Greta Lee, RZA and Isabella Rosselini. The film is currently available on Kanopy, Plex and Tubi.
Ari Aster's directorial debut, Hereditary, is a psychological horror about a grieving family whose lives are plagued by horrific supernatural occurances after the death of their grandmother. The film stars Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Ann Dowd and Alex Wolff.
Love Lies Bleeding (2024)
Where to watch: Kanopy, Plex, Tubi
Love Lies Bleeding stars Kristen Stewart as Lou, the manager of a gym who falls for a bodybuilder, Jackie (Katy O'Brian) who's new in town. After Jackie commits a serious, violent crime, the two try to cover it up, and things grow increasingly violent and chaotic as a result. The film is available on Kanopy, Tubi and Plex right now.
Jonathan Demme's concert film Stop Making Sense is a chronicle of the Talking Heads at the height of their fame. The film was originally released in 1984 but underwent a restoration for its 40th anniversary and was re-released by A24 in 2024. It's available now on Kanopy, Plex and Tubi.
In the psychological horror It Comes At Night, a contagious disease has decimated the global population, forcing a family (Joel Edgerton, Carmen Ejogo and Kelvin Harrison, Jr.) to hide out deep in the woods to avoid contracting the disease. When another family happens upon their home, they're taken in citing safety in numbers, but soon mistrust grows between them, resulting in paranoia and violence.
Lest you think A24 only produced grim horror and psychological thrillers, Dicks: The Musical is a good reminder that they're a great source for offbeat comedy, too. The 2023 movie musical is directed by former Seinfeld writer and director Larry Charles and stars Nathan Lane as Megan Mullally as estranged exes whose sons were raised apart, but meet later as adults and realize they're identical twins. The twins try to reunite their divorced parents, Parent Trap-style, and while that doesn't quite work, they have a wild adventure (in a sewer) where they realize that their own relationship is deeper than they thought. The cast also includes Megan Thee Stallion, Bowen Yang, Nick Offerman and Josh Sharp.
