PlayStation State of Play September 2025: all the news and trailers

3 weeks ago 18

Just ahead of the launch of Ghost of Yōtei on the PS5 next week, Sony is holding its latest State of Play showcase to detail what’s coming next for the platform.

One thing that we know will make an appearance for sure is Saros, the latest dark sci-fi game from Returnal studio Housemarque. Aside from that, though, it’s not really clear what to expect from the event. Sony says it will span around 35 minutes and include “new looks at anticipated third-party and indie titles, plus updates from some of our teams at PlayStation Studios.”

The most recent State of Play in June featured a number of welcome surprises — including 007 First Light and the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster — so something similar could happen here. Maybe we’ll finally see some of Insomniac’s Wolverine?

Whatever Sony does show when the stream kicks off on September 24th at 2PM PT / 5PM ET, you can keep up with all the most important developments right here.

Haunting PS5 shooter Saros launches in March

Saros, the next game from Returnal developer Housemarque, launches for PS5 on March 20th, 2026, Sony announced during its September State of Play presentation on Wednesday.

Based on a gameplay trailer shown during the event, it looks like Saros takes a lot of cues from Returnal, with futuristic weapons, lots of bullets and rings filling the screen, and mysterious environments that you’ll have to navigate. You’ll also get a new shield that lets you run into projectiles that you can absorb as energy and then throw back toward your enemies.
