Netflix always manages to release an overwhelming number of titles every month, and this May is no different. The streamer is dropping tons of original shows and movies soon, including the second season of the Emmy-nominated comedy series The Four Seasons, and the release of a new science fiction-tinged show from the Duffer Brothers, The Boroughs.
You'll also be able to catch sports-related content. New episodes of Untold (that documentary franchise is expanding this month with Untold UK), loads of soccer documentaries and shows to prep you for the World Cup and the platform's first-ever live MMA fight between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano are coming.
Take a look at all the new original shows, movies and live sports that are coming this May to Netflix.

Remarkably Bright Creatures
Sally Field and Lewis Pullman star in the new Netflix original film Remarkably Bright Creatures, based on the best-selling novel by Shelby Van Pelt. Field plays a widow, Tova, who befriends a giant Pacific octopus named Marcellus while working at a local aquarium, while Pullman plays her new co-worker. The book became a viral success due to its unorthodox narrator: Marcellus the octopus (who will actually be a character in the film voiced by Alfred Molina). We're just hoping the film will do the book justice, as it's original, weird and delightful.

Lord of the Flies (Netflix original series)
William Golding' Lord of the Flies novel has already been adapted for the screen a couple of times, and now there's a new iteration. A four-part limited series lands on Netflix on May 4.
The new series, developed for television by Jack Thorne, is about a group of young schoolboys who become stranded on a deserted island and their attempt to govern themselves. Thorne also co-created Adolescence, another story with themes of young men confronting their worst impulses, anger and violent tendencies. This new interpretation of the material may seem more relevant now than it was when the book came out in 1954. The show features a cast primarily of unknown actors, with Rory Kinnear and Daniel Mays also appearing.

Berlín and the Lady With an Ermine
Berlín and the Lady With an Ermine is an extension of Netflix's Money Heist universe. In the new series, Pedro Alonso returns as master thief Berlín, who is plotting a heist in Seville, Spain, with his band of usual cohorts... only the heist is a fake. As Berlín creates the illusion that he's trying to steal a famous Leonardo da Vinci painting, Lady With an Ermine, he's actually got a different target in mind. The eight-episode series drops on May 15.

The Duffer Brothers are the producers behind the new eight-episode series The Boroughs, which means that something supernatural is definitely going to be afoot. The new show takes place in a retirement village in New Mexico that seems ideal on the outside until the residents uncover a monstrous, terrifying secret lurking too close to home. Said residents are played by a who's who of Hollywood titans, including Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Alfred Molina, Bill Pullman, Clarke Peters and Ed Begley Jr.

The Four Seasons, Season 2
Netflix's The Four Seasons first premiered in 2025, turning the 1981 Alan Alda film into a heartfelt, cozy dramedy series reimagined by Tina Fey. Fey not only co-stars in the show but co-wrote it with 30 Rock writer Tracey Wigfield and Lang Fisher. It offers a modern take on the story of three couples whose friendships are turned upside down when one of the couples announces their separation. By the end of the first season, one of the main characters was killed in a car crash and another announced her pregnancy, which will certainly change things up in Season 2. The show is filled with great performances, including one from Colman Domingo, who earned an Emmy nod for his role. It returns with eight new episodes on May 28.

Brazil '70: The Third Star
If you grew up in the 1970s or '80s, Pelé was the only soccer player you had probably ever heard of. The new miniseries Brazil '70: The Third Star goes deep into the story behind the legendary Brazilian national team's journey to their third World Cup victory in 1970. Pelé and the rest of the superstar club were widely considered one of the greatest teams ever assembled, but their road to the top was anything but easy. This is one of several soccer shows hitting Netflix this month in celebration of the upcoming World Cup, though this miniseries is scripted, not a documentary.
