'Dr. Seuss's The Sneetches': Here's Where You Can Stream the Animated Special

9 hours ago 3

Dr. Seuss's timely tale of empathy and acceptance has a new animated musical adaptation, with the release this week of The Sneetches on Netflix.

First published in 1961 as part of The Sneetches and Other Stories collection, the original book tells of a group of yellow, bird-like creatures called the Sneetches, some of whom have green stars on their bellies while others do not. Their divided society refuses to mix because the Star-Belly Sneetches believe they are better than the Plain-Belly ones.

This special focuses on two young Sneetches called Stella and Pearl — one with a star and one without — who prove through their friendship that kindness and understanding matter more than any mark on a belly.

Produced by Irish animation house Brown Bag Films, this latest special is the third exclusive Dr. Seuss-inspired animation to appear on Netflix, following the release of Red Fish, Blue Fish and Dr. Seuss's Horton!, which both hit the streaming service earlier this year.
