The iPhone Ultra is basically confirmed at this point, thanks to the numerous reports and leaks from outlets like Bloomberg and even accessory makers like Dbrand. Today, we find out if the device is real, ready and respectable. Oh and if it's going to cost a whole month's rent or more.
It's easy to understand why companies like the latter might risk incurring Apple's wrath by jumping the gun with their pre-order pages. Whether Dbrand's offerings were based on the real specs of the upcoming foldable or simply some extremely educated guesses, case makers are likely capitalizing on the intense interest around even a rumored device. Plus, foldable phones are notoriously fragile and costly, making a protective cover a no-brainer of an investment.
Whether or not we see an iPhone Ultra with a flexible screen today, we'd still be getting more from the company around its next candybar iPhone. Does anyone even say candybar anymore? Is this term coming back from dying out after the flip phone era? Reports suggest that we'll only see the Pro models of the iPhone 18, while the Apple Watch Series 12 and possibly an Ultra 4 might be on the agenda.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't call out the fact that this is expected to be incoming CEO John Ternus' first major presentation, as June's WWDC was Tim Cook's last keynote. Today looks set to be a monumental day for Apple historians, and we're so glad you're here to watch along with us. According to a report from MacRumors, Verizon's AI assistant allegedly leaked details about the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max that are heavily rumored to be announced today. Some details align with what's already been reported, but others, like the price, could've been pulled from the 17 Pro listings.
For example, I don't think there's any way the price of the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max stay the same as the current model. It's been widely reported, as late as last night, that the prices of these iPhones will go up by $100.
Either way, it seems like carriers may need to reign in their chatbots before new phones are officially announced.

The latest from Bloomberg suggests the foldable iPhone will be named the iPhone Duo instead of the iPhone Ultra, which I kind of suspected might happen anyway. I mostly think Apple is getting wise to the rumor and leaks game and has smoke and mirrors? Anyway, if that is indeed the name then, I guess I hope the iPhone Duo has better luck than Microsoft's Surface Duo! Remember that, anyone?

Yes, we've flown out to watch a video. But I can also tell you it's more the ability to experience the latest devices in person that draws us out here. And for the first time in years, the weather in Cupertino is actually worse than New York, where I flew here from! It will be a sizzling 95 degrees Fahrenheit today, and I will be trying very hard to stay indoors.

I already said in the intro above, but we're not only expecting to see Apple reveal its first foldable phone, but we'll also see CEO John Ternus take on his first major presentation. Now, if previous iPhone launches and the MacBook Neo event earlier this year is any indicator, it's likely Tim Cook and Ternus will take the stage at Steve Jobs Theater and welcome the in-person audience briefly before a pre-recorded video plays for the rest of the keynote.
