Apple has raised the prices of all iPhone models by $100. The price hike affects not just the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models – announced at Wednesday’s live “Surprise and Shine” event — but also last year’s iPhone 17, iPhone 17E and iPhone Air, as well as the iPhone 16.
The iPhone 17 now starts at $929, the highest ever starting price for Apple’s base iPhone model. The entry-level iPhone 17E now starts at $699, while the iPhone Air starts at $1,099. The iPhone 16 is now back to $829 — the same price it had when it debuted in 2024.
While a price hike was expected for the newest iPhone models, the increase for older models is unprecedented. In previous years, older iPhones in the lineup either received a discount or maintained their original price.
Apple already raised the prices of several products in June, including Macs, iPads and HomePods, due to the global RAM shortage. Former Apple CEO Tim Cook called the price hikes “unavoidable,” citing a “100-year flood on the memory pricing.” RAMageddon caused companies, including Samsung and Google, to increase the cost of their new phones this year, but Apple spared the iPhone until Wednesday.
The cheapest new iPhone model, the iPhone 18 Pro, starts at $1,199; the most expensive new model is the $1,999 iPhone Duo. A base-model iPhone 18 wasn’t announced this week, but is expected to debut next spring.
